Lester Pleasant, Jr.

Lester Pleasant, Jr. attended Jackson State University in Jackson Mississippi where he grew up and was a member of the famous “Sonic Boom of the South” marching band.  During his sophomore year his arrangement of “I’m So Glad I go to JSU” was the first to be heard among HBCU’s cheer songs.

 

Upon receiving the Bachelor of Music Education Degree Lester started a career as band director and is presently the band director at Paul D. West Middle School.  His bands have received superior ratings at the annual GMEA performance evaluation for 15 consecutive years. 

 

Lester has served as wind and percussion coach for Still Waters Youth Sinfo-Nia (a youth orchestra) as well as taught in several band camps.

 

Lester’s professional performance career includes performing with several old school R&B artists.
