The Music
    “Music and life are all about style.” - Miles Davis. And the Atlanta Swing Orchestra certainly has style. The 18-piece orchestra is a professional dance band from Atlanta, performing in the tradition of the great swing bands of the ’40s and ’50s. The goal of its members is to play the big band American song book and do it well enough to continue this great tradition into the new millennium. The band has played for the High Museum of Art and the Atlanta History Museum, among many other civic, corporate and charity events.  They will hypnotize Main Street from 7 p.m. ’til  . . .

The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation will host its 24th annual Preservation Ball inside the Grand Overlook Ballroom at the Atlanta History Center on Saturday, February 2, 7:30 to midnight. 

Tickets are $200 per person for the "Big Band Blowout" themed fund raiser honoring President and CEO Greg Paxton's 27 years with the organization. Tickets can be purchased by calling 404-885-7805. All proceeds benefit The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation.

This year's chairs are Amy and Allen Nelson. Honorary chairs are Mary and Billy Warren. Past chairs have included Sissy and David Perdue, Dean DuBose Smith and Willem and Merrel Hattnik.

The black-tie event will feature cocktails, lively entertainment from the Atlanta Swing Orchestra, gaming tables, dancing and fine cuisine from Atlanta's top caterers while an expected 400 patrons roll the dice for preservation.
