Don Wilmot

Don Wilmot, bass trombone. Retired army bandsman with 21 of 22 years stationed at Ft. McPherson in SW Atlanta. While there he played over 200 cities in 44 states, backed up Bill Watrous, Cab Calloway, Conrad Herwig, and others. After retiring he traveled to Heidelberg, Germany with his active duty flutist wife, Darla. While there, he played with the Heidelberg University Orchestra, toured with the a German big band as well as the Soldiers if Swing of the Army Band in Heidelberg. They returned to the Tidewater area of Virginia where he played with the Tidewater Winds and seven years at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg. Since moving back to the Atlanta area to be near grandkids he has formed Auf Gehts, a German Polka band which plays 12-15 gigs each Oktoberfest season. He joined the ASWO four years ago and enjoys playing all the standards, Dragon Con, and several other set gigs per year.
