Big Band Battle for the Big Easy

*The Steinway Piano Company and our James Schneider sponsored a Battle of the Big Bands on October 2, 2005. Four bands Atlanta Swing Orchestra, Sentimental Journey Orchestra, The Modernaires, and the Atlanta Seventeen, all performed for the benefit of hurricane victims. From the Steinway Society website comes the following report:

" Big Bands for “The Big Easy” was truly an afternoon to remember." The Atlanta Steinway Society was joined by The Modernaires, The Atlanta Swing Orchestra, The Atlanta Seventeen and Sentimental Journey Orchestra for over 3 hours of fabulous, toe-tapping, swinging-in-your-seat entertainment. Several hundred guests attended the event at the Roswell Cultural Center for what many referred to as an “historic event,” in Atlanta, four big band orchestras under one roof, a format which has not been seen here in decades. Thanks to the support of our patrons and the unprecedented generosity of the orchestra members who donated their performances, the event was a great success raising several thousand dollars which will be donated to the Hurricane relief efforts at The Salvation Army.
